About the Club

Our story, our objective, and a word from the President's desk.

Where farmers and scientists share one roof

India is known worldwide as an agricultural nation, and Punjab has long carried that identity for the whole country. Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana — founded in 1962 and often called the soul of Punjab's farming — brought its experts together with the state's farmers to help the country cross the threshold from scarcity to surplus grain production.

PAU Kisan Club was born in the village of Bawewal in 1966, and today it is respected across the world as a model of farmer-scientist collaboration. Every month, on the first Thursday, farmers and agricultural scientists gather under one roof to share their problems, achievements and field experience — a tradition that has now run unbroken for six decades.

The club exists to carry scientific advances in farming and allied occupations directly to the people who work the land: new techniques, timely knowledge, and a genuine bridge between the research station and the field.

Our Objective — to provide farmers with scientific information related to agriculture and its allied occupations, and to carry the latest methods and research to farmers in a form they can use — while giving members a platform to share their personal experiences and difficulties with fellow farmers and scientists alike.

From the President's Desk

Manpreet Singh Grewal, President, PAU Kisan Club

Dear farmer brothers, my heart is filled with joy and pride that the PAU Kisan Club has completed 60 years since its founding. This is not merely a number — it is a symbol of the passion, struggle and renewal of Punjab's farming community.

Established on 30th June 1966, the club built a strong bridge between farmers and scientists, carrying fresh thinking, technology and scientific knowledge straight to the farmer. Over the years it has played a key role in raising farmers' output, connecting them to modern methods, and encouraging sustainable agriculture.

Today, as farming faces challenges like climate change, soil health, water scarcity and economic pressure, the PAU Kisan Club continues to guide farmers in the right direction — grounded in science, and always pushing them toward new experience and learning.

In the end, I extend my heartfelt thanks for this club's wonderful journey, and hope it continues to lead the way for Punjab's agriculture and farmers in the years ahead.
